I think that perhaps one of the fastest systems I know for a quick “make yourself” type game would be the New World of Darkness. The one page character sheet (http://mrgone.rocksolidshells.com/pdf/NWOD/NWoD1-Page.pdf) has all you need to throw together a character quickly. All you need to do is provide a list of Merits.

Not that I’m aware of. All I’ve ever done in that regard is look around the web and find another one to download. Heck, the theme on my page is a default theme with one of the background pictures changed. It is possible that someone with more skill and experience (and dreamweaver) could probably do it however.

I’m not much for web design I have to admit - is there any way to make a fixed-width wordpress theme like this one into a variable-width theme?

The text areas are surprisingly readable. For a scheme like this I would have thought it would be harder to read. I’ll be reading off the RSS feed anyway so that shouldn’t matter too much. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the fixed width/compressed look though. You have a full screen, why not use it all?
